Outpatient Drug Rehab

Top Rated Outpatient Drug Rehab Center

Outpatient drug rehab is a flexible treatment option that’s ideal for many people who are recovering from drug or alcohol addiction. During outpatient treatment, clients are able to get the support they need while continuing to reside at home and tend to their various obligations if they choose. Though not the best option for everyone, particularly people who may just be starting out on their recovery journey, outpatient treatment options can help people achieve lasting recovery.

Sylvan Detox is a leading medical detox and residential inpatient treatment drug rehab. While we do not offer outpatient treatment, we do encourage many of our clients to transition to outpatient rehab programs after completing their inpatient therapy with us. We routinely refer clients seeking outpatient therapy to our network partners who do offer outpatient programming. Finding the ideal treatment program for you is crucial to your recovery success.

Drug Rehab That Allows You to Still Go to Work and School

Enrolling in a residential treatment facility for drug rehab isn’t a good fit for everyone for reasons that might include:

  • They don’t want to incur tuition losses for leaving school.
  • They don’t feel like they can take several weeks off from work.
  • They have children and wish to maintain their responsibilities related to their families.
  • They don’t want to live in a facility with other people.

These reasons are certainly valid, but when addiction is present, the individual also needs treatment that can prevent their physical and mental health from eroding from the effects of drugs or alcohol. Outpatient therapy can provide the support they need while still enabling them to meet their work and home obligations.

Benefits of Outpatient Drug Rehab

Flexibility is a chief benefit of outpatient rehab. Clients can attend their therapy sessions and then return home or to work or school. With outpatient drug rehab, clients can still easily meet with family and friends to enjoy their support. Outpatient therapy can prevent people from feeling isolated or cut off from the rest of the world. Of course, for a person who is extremely unstable and at heightened risk of relapse, inpatient therapy, at least for a short time, might be the better option, but for many, outpatient therapy helps them build a strong recovery foundation.

What to Expect During Outpatient Rehab

Clients can expect to participate in both group and individual therapy during outpatient rehab. Sylvan’s network outpatient rehabs offer evidence-based therapy as well as alternative and holistic therapies designed to enhance the recovery process. During treatment, clients learn how to manage different aspects of their condition. They learn to identify their triggers to abuse drugs and how to manage those triggers effectively. Many clients also struggle with a dual diagnosis. During the course of their treatment, they’ll also get support for the mental health issues they’re experiencing.

How Long Does Outpatient Rehab Last with Sylvan?

Sylvan Detox features inpatient treatment programs that last, on average, anywhere from 30 to 90 days. We also offer inpatient medical detox. When enrolled in outpatient treatment with one of our network partner rehabs, clients may achieve their treatment milestones in 30-90 days as well. Each individual is different. Some people feel able to manage their condition on their own after a month of treatment; others may prefer ongoing treatment for several months to keep relapse at bay.

IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program)

Many clients choose intensive outpatient (IOP) treatment because of its support and flexibility. IOP usually requires clients to meet for treatment roughly three times each week or about nine hours. The time frame differs between rehabs. Clients might attend therapy in the morning or evening several days each week. The flexibility of these programs allows them to work, attend school, or care for their family without major disruptions in their schedule. Clients can expect to attend individual and group therapy sessions that involve a wide range of treatment approaches designed to target each aspect of their addiction.

PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program)

A partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers a more robust level of support as compared to an IOP. PHP programs are outpatient programs that provide a level of support somewhere between an inpatient program and IOP. During PHP programming, clients can expect to attend 20 or more hours of treatment each week. Clients might attend 5-6 days a week for day-long treatment. Of course, after the day’s treatment, they can return home. These programs are ideal for clients who do not want to reside at a treatment facility but still require a high degree of professional support.

Which Outpatient Treatment, IOP or PHP, Is Right for Me?

It can be difficult to choose the ideal treatment program, but treatment facilities can help by recommending the best course of treatment based on each client’s individual needs. Someone just starting out on their recovery journey tends to need more support than someone who has been free from drugs for a month or more. A PHP program might be a better fit for them. Someone who has already completed inpatient treatment or is very stable and motivated to stop using drugs might find that IOP programming is a better fit for them.
