Outpatient Alcohol Rehab
Top Rated Outpatient Alcohol Rehab Center in Los Angeles
Alcoholism affects millions of people around the country. Also known as alcohol use disorder or alcohol addiction, alcoholism is a chronic disease that can take a toll on a person’s mental and physical health and impact other important aspects of a person’s life like their family and career. The best way to manage an alcohol addiction is to enroll in a high-quality alcohol rehab program characterized by evidence-based therapies and experienced addiction specialists. Sylvan Detox is a Joint Commission-approved alcohol and drug rehab in Los Angeles. We offer medical detox programs and inpatient treatment designed to support lasting recovery. It is possible to stop drinking and lead a rewarding, sober lifestyle; Sylvan can help. While we do not offer outpatient alcohol treatment, our partnering rehab centers in the region do.
Alcohol Rehab That Allows You To Still Go To Work & School. (Can I go to Work and school during rehab?)
Not all people can devote the time to spend in a residential rehab program. Many rehabs offer alternatives to inpatient treatment. Attending a rehab program like a partial hospitalization program for alcohol use disorder offers clients the flexibility they may need to keep working or attend school. Some people can’t take the time away from their families to reside in residential rehab.
Sylvan Detox often refers clients to our network of outpatient rehabs for treatment. Many of our clients transition to outpatient programs after completing alcohol detox or inpatient treatment at our rehab facility. The important thing is to get treatment. Outpatient therapy might not be the ideal fit for people who are unstable and likely to relapse, which is common early in recovery journeys, but it is a good fit for many.
Benefits of Outpatient Alcohol Rehab
Getting treatment is an important first step in the alcoholism recovery process. Outpatient treatment offers clients flexibility, allowing them to attend work or school while attending therapy sessions in the morning or evening. People with young children can continue to take care of them or other family members while attending outpatient programming. Although outpatient programs don’t offer 24-hour support, they do provide people with the treatment needed to progress to lasting recovery. For people who don’t want to live at a rehab facility and prefer to reside at home, outpatient rehab is a welcome treatment option.
What To Expect During Outpatient Rehab
Outpatient rehab features a wide range of treatment approaches, generally, just as residential rehabs do. Our network partners, for instance, offer conventional evidence-based therapies such as dialectical behavioral therapy as well as some alternative and holistic therapies that support whole-person healing and wellness. People can expect to participate in group and individual treatment sessions that address topics relevant to addiction recovery and relapse prevention. Depending on the type of outpatient program chosen, clients can usually plan on spending between 10 and 20 hours at their outpatient rehab each week.
How Long Does Outpatient Rehab Last With Sylvan?
Sylvan offers inpatient treatment programs that last 30, 60, and 90 days. Many outpatient rehabs also offer 30-90 days treatment programs. Some people reach their recovery milestones after 30 days of therapy and choose to transition back to their everyday lives. Others opt for a longer program so they can take advantage of the support that a 60 or 90 day program offers. Research has demonstrated that the longer a person spends in rehab, the less likely they are to have a relapse. At Sylvan, we individualize treatment plans. Clients can extend their treatment if they choose to.
IOP (Intensive Outpatient Program)
An intensive outpatient program (IOP) offers clients a flexible treatment routine. These programs tend to meet for between 5-10 hours each week. Clients can choose to attend morning, afternoon, or evening treatment sessions, which affords them considerable flexibility. They can return home or go to work after treatment. IOPs include one-on-one and group therapy sessions that cover many different therapeutic approaches, each designed to target a different aspect of addiction. An IOP is a terrific option for someone who is very stable (not likely to relapse) and does not need a high degree of professional support.
PHP (Partial Hospitalization Program)
A partial hospitalization program (PHP) offers less support than a residential treatment program, but more support than an IOP. During a PHP program, clients usually attend treatment all day long during weekdays or for about 20 hours per week depending on the program. After the day’s treatment, they’re able to leave the rehab and return home. These programs are ideal for people who need a high degree of support but don’t want to reside at a rehab facility. They offer many of the same types of therapies as an inpatient rehab does, and clients can expect to participate in both individual and group therapies.
Which Outpatient Treatment, IOP or PHP, Is Right For Me?
The amount of support you need will suggest what type of rehab program is ideal for you. If you are just beginning your recovery journey, a PHP will offer a higher level of support than an IOP. However, if you need the flexibility of an IOP because of family or work obligations, it may be your best option. If outpatient programming doesn’t seem to offer the level of support you need at this time, consider enrolling in an inpatient treatment program at Sylvan Detox.
