What Is Inpatient Rehab?
Inpatient rehab is also called residential rehab, because you move into a residence within the rehab center for a specified amount of time to get structured, safe, treatment for addiction in a supportive drug- and alcohol-free environment. You do not leave the rehab center while getting treatment, instead living on a healthy schedule that promotes good sleep, healthy eating, exercise, and group and individual therapy, with medical care and psychiatric care as needed. Each day is filled with healthy living, education, and treatments, and you will also have downtime to relax and reflect upon what you have learned. Inpatient rehab at Sylvan Detox is designed to heal the whole person, body, mind, and spirit, using a combination of effective, evidence-based therapies and holistic treatments.

What To Expect During Residential Rehab
When you come to Sylvan Detox, the procedure will go as follows:
Assessment – each patient will first have a biopsychosocial assessment (a medical and psychological exam) that will help us to plan the right program for your unique needs. You will have the final say, we will never force you to do anything you do not want to do
Medical detox – most people will need a minimum of a few days in detox to help the body cleanse itself of drugs and alcohol before beginning rehab. This will ensure you are medically stable, and troublesome cravings and withdrawals don’t distract you from your treatments. Medical detox includes 24-hour medical care, prescription medications to keep you safe and comfortable, and a meeting with a certified therapist at least once a day
Inpatient Rehab – this is where the bulk of your healing and work takes place. Inpatient rehab is, on average, 30 to 90 days. You will have an individual, group, and family therapy, and other treatments like:
- Interpersonal psychotherapy
- Cognitive behavioral therapy
- Dialectical behavior therapy
- 12-step fellowship introductions
- Fitness, strength-building, and nutrition plans
- Goal setting and obtaining
- Alternative treatments like yoga, salt water therapy, massage, and breathwork
- Denial management and relapse prevention techniques
- Creative healing programs
- Anger management groups
- Dual diagnosis treatment for co-occurring conditions like mental illness or PTSD
Further treatment and aftercare – We offer referrals to trusted outpatient rehabs that are within our network of facilities, as well as sober living homes, online treatment, 12-step groups, and other recovery resources. You will never be left on your own after inpatient rehab
How Long Does Inpatient Rehab in San Fernando Valley Last?
Everybody is different, so there is no single answer to this question, but generally speaking, the detox portion of your stay can last a couple of days to a few weeks, depending on what you are detoxing from and how severe the addiction is.
Your timeline for inpatient rehab at Sylvan Detox will depend on your unique comfort level, your medical and psychological needs, your personal recovery goals, and the type of substances you are quitting. Short-term rehab is 30 days long for milder addictions, but more severe addictions may require up to 90 days in inpatient care, followed by an outpatient program and continued connections to care and support for years. We will help you decide on your program length, and help you find outpatient resources after you have completed your stay with our team.
30 Day Rehab
30-day, short-term rehab, is a good choice for people with less-severe addictions. 30 days is enough time to learn new healthy habits, address underlying issues and behaviors in therapy, and set long-term recovery goals, with a strategy with which you will reach them.
60 Day Rehab
60 days in rehab is often recommended for people who do not feel ready to return to their regular life after short-term rehab. The additional 30 days will give you time to form healthy habits, regain your strength and physical wellness, and learn new relapse-prevention techniques that will last you a lifetime.
90 Day Rehab
90-day long-term rehab is a good idea for anybody in a medication-assisted treatment program for opioid drugs or benzodiazepines, anybody who does not have a supportive place to live outside the rehab center, and anybody who has a history of relapse. Spending three full months inside a rehab facility will give you plenty of time to gain a new perspective on life, heal your body, and begin working towards a healthier and happier future.
Executive Drug Rehab in San Fernando Valley
As an executive, you have become accustomed to living with a certain degree of comfort and may require enhanced privacy when you decide to go to rehab. At Sylvan detox, we only allow 6 patients onsite at one time, we offer 24-hour security, and the entire rehab center in San Fernando Valley, including the outdoor lounge areas, is not visible from outside the treatment center. You will get the treatment you need, and our team will treat you with the respect and dignity that you deserve, providing the treatment you need to be able to get back to work as efficiently as possible.
Breathwork Therapy
It may sound simple, but by controlling your breath, you can control the way your body feels. Simply by breathing intentionally, you can reduce stress and relax, a useful skill to learn because it is free of cost and can be done at any time and in any place. Breathwork is a tool you can carry with you for the rest of your life to improve your mood, relax your body, or enhance feelings of spirituality.
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is a proactive type of psychotherapy that provides skills that can be used in everyday life to reduce stress and negative thoughts. You will learn to identify unhelpful behaviors and thoughts and work to change them, stepping outside your usual perspective to see things from another angle and improve mental health.
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT) teaches skills like mindfulness and distress tolerance, helping patients accept that their experiences are valid, while at the same time making changes for better emotional management and interpersonal effectiveness. DBT provides skills that can be used during stressful or challenging moments.
Family Systems Therapy
Family Systems Therapy operates under the assumption that your family system has made you who you are, and it affects every aspect of your life. By challenging assumptions and family roles, and working toward a healthier family unit, you can heal and move forward in life with healthier relationships.
Trauma-Informed Therapy
Using trauma-informed methods means that the care provider understands you may have gone through difficult times in your life with medical professionals, safety, legal issues, violence, death, or illness. A trauma-informed practitioner will take steps to make sure you feel safe, listened to, and that you are an informed participant in your treatment. They will not make you feel stupid for asking questions and will ensure they are up-to-date and informed on cultural considerations.
